Subject: Le Soufflé Restaurante Paris
First, I had to think about what I wanted to paint. Going through old travel photos I found this one.
I loved this restaurant near Place Vendôme when I traveled to Paris on business.
Best soufflé's ever. I also loved the exterior architecture, colors, and window reflections. The photo brings back happy memories to me of dinners enjoyed with colleagues.

The Block In
I blocked out the basic outline in diluted burnt Sienna ... and then started adding color in some of the areas I would focus on next.
Fill in the Canvas
I continued to fill in the painting with color - trying to fill in the larger pieces without getting too stuck in the details (though I probably did in the first floor windows)
More details
On this take, I put in more details, such as the stone lines, lines on the woodwork, and more detail in the windows.
In class critique, the potted plant needs to be fixed and some of the lines need to be checked. Now that I look at it, the plant looks like a certain emoji, but in green. 😂
The next version for critique
More detail work (balcony grates, wood panel work, bush), checking on angles, making the relevant parts of the painting show well. Generally a lot more attention to detail.
Critique: wall lines too strong, angles on bottom of the painting a bit off, perspective of planter box a bit off. I also noticed I placed the signage on the wrong panel!
Final Painting
Corrections from critique included...
And here is the final painting. Je suis content avec cette peinture!
